Patient Services
Dr. Gibson provides general dentistry to the Eastern Panhandle residents of all ages. A beautiful smile has to rest
on a foundation of good oral heath. Here at Blue Ridge Smiles, we work with you to provide consistent preventative
care that will keep you smiling!
We offer routine care, as well as, restorative and cosmetic focused treatment. You may be extremely happy with your
smile and the color of your teeth or wish to be educated about options that we can offer right in our office.
Restorative Care Services: There's no perfect substitute for your natural teeth, but it is our goal to help you have healthy
teeth for life. Advances in dentistry give us several options to restore teeth to be functional and also esthetic. We
understand how important your smile is for your self image. This is why we offer many advanced cosmetic services to
brighten and enhance your smile.
Regular Checkups: Include oral cancer screening, review of radiographs, assessment of all teeth and existing
restorations. Dr. Gibson checks to make sure there are not fractures, new tooth decay, or cavities around old restorations.
Cleanings with our Professional Hygienists- To remove plaque and calculus (tartar) from your teeth and exposed roots,
which if left untreated can lead to gingivitis and/or periodontal disease. Your teeth are also professionally polished to
remove further plaque and stains leaving you refreshed!
Crowns: Tooth colored "caps" to strengthen teeth weakened by decay or fracture. Often patients have old dental work that
needs strengthening and a porcelain crown is an excellent option.
Bridge: "Caps" that span an area of a missing tooth or multiple teeth. A bridge helps fill in dark holes or strengthen an area
for chewing. Your bridge is non-removable and has many benefits.
Composite resins: Are tooth colored fillings that are directly bonded to your tooth. The composite materials contain no
mercury = no metals! When enough healthy tooth structure exists, composite resins are the material of choice.
Endodontic Therapy: Often in our office we are able to provide surprisingly comfortable endodontic therapy to the alternative
of tooth removal. Retaining full use of your nature tooth is ideal.
Did you know that each tooth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp that provides the tooth with nutrients and nerves and
extends down to the tooth's root? If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the tooth's nerves die and often, without endodontic
treatment, the tooth dies as well. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth.
Up To Date Technology - Tools to help your teeth!
Non Invasive Laser Cavity Detection:
The DIAGNOdent is the first diagnostic instrument invented since the x-ray. It is a small, portable laser that is used to
detect cavities. The DIAGNOdent allows us to find cavities that are small, and therefore require a much smaller restoration.
This early detection helps us avoid larger, more costly procedures for you. Just like other areas of medicine and dentistry,
early detection and treatment is of immeasurable value in preserving your health of your teeth.
Intra Oral Camera: Ever been
curious about what goes on during your dental care visits? Well now, with our intraoral cameras, you dont have to be curious
anymore! An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. A high tech compact camera that takes photographs
of your teeth from many angles which allows Dr. Gibson to show you areas of concern under high magnification on the computer
screen. Together you and Dr. Gibson can decide the best treatment to restore the tooth/teeth.
Chair-side Computers:
These are used to view the your digital chart, x-rays, and pictures taken by the intra-oral camera.
PREVENTATIVE TREATMENT FOR CHILDREN & ADULTS:
Dental Sealants: An excellent preventive measure to protect the deep grooves of teeth from cavity causing bacteria.
Nightguards: to protect the teeth from grinding and clinching, which over time can result in chipping and wearing down of the
teeth. Nightguards can also relieve stress of sore jaw muscles and prevent further damage to the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ/Jaw Joint).
TEETH WHITENING:
Take home-whitening trays: These are thin and comfortable enough to be worn night or day, during conversation, working, sleeping,
etc. This gives you control of whitening your smile at the pace that is right for you.
The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure. It's safe, effective and fast. In just
over an hour, your teeth can be dramatically whiter. Zoom! Whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results. The convenience
of Zoom! in comparison to days of wearing trays and gradual whitening makes it the perfect choice for the busy individual.
